2020 is here, it has been three years since we started the Rainy Day Chefs. I cannot believe that we have been cooking every month for three years. That is equivalent to about thirty-six months. This month we made fried rice with spring rolls, and gave the shelter as a dessert. We decided to make fried rice because it is such an ancient dish that has so much flavor. Fried rice is basically cooked rice that has been stir fried and is mixed with other ingredients such as vegetables, soy sauce, and other seasoning. Fried rice is very popular in southeast Asia. Since we have had busy schedules for this year with the upcoming school semester, we unfortunately couldn't have volunteers this mont, so this cookout was just Neha and I.
We started by cutting the vegetables for the fried rice and cooking the rice. Since I have not learned how to cook rice in the past, I learned something new this time. Once the vegetables were cut and the rice was cooked, we started to bring the ingerdients together to make the fried rice. We sautéed the vegetables and once that was done, we added the rice. After the rice was added, it really started to come together. When the rice was being mixed in, I cracked a couple of eggs and added it to the rice. While Neha was cooking the fried rice, I started to put the spring rolls in the oven. This month we also added ice cream as desert. Overall this cookout was very quick and efficient, and we finished in about 2 hours! Which is very impressive compared to our other cookouts. This cookout was short and sweet!
